Tasting Notes La Cuchareta reserve

Colour: cherry red high layer. Red trim, fine. Smell: intense predominance of toasted, smoked, vanilla, coconut, even tobacco and chocolate tones. Palate: tannic, powerful, with a long and persistent aftertaste. In the mythical city of Haro, capital of La Rioja Alta, perhaps where the extraordinary sum of coincidences between the goodness of the climate and the severity of the land is best produced, are the López de Heredia Wineries, the oldest in Haro and a of the first three in La Rioja. So wisely and meticulously, that this kind of wine cathedral, like the authentic ones, is still unfinished and perhaps the sensation that one breathes, when stepping on their ships, comes from that still latent spirit of the founder, of having traveled backwards in the weather.

Own vineyards 81% Tempranillo, 19% Mazuelo. Aging process. The bunches are de-stemmed and gently squeezed. The grapes ferment separately in stainless steel tanks, with temperature control. The incubation lasts 11 days during which continuous “pumping up” and “punching down” tasks are carried out, to favor the contact of the must with the skins and cause a slow and natural extraction of aromas and polyphenols. The Tempranillo was harvested on September 30 and the Mazuelo on October 7, from the selected grapes of an excellent quality vintage in our La Plana payment located in the highest area of our Finca Ygay at 485 meters of altitude. Decant 20 minutes before enjoying it. Serve at a temperature between 14-16ºC to promote the aeration of the wine and be able to fully enjoy its aromas. Poached turbot in its pil pil and oven touch, earthy with purple garlic; grilled and regenerated pigeon of bresse on the grill, cauliflower and pear marinated in red wine; baked sirloin steak, cameroon black pepper and wild mushrooms; roast suckling pig, roasted sour apple. 26 months in 225 liter American and French oak barrels.

Carbonic maceration (vatting and fermentation of whole bunches). Daily soft pump-overs. FERMENTATION: The variety Sauvignon Blanc 50% in French oak barrels for one wine and 50% in barrels for two wines (Vosgues area) with Medium-Long Burgundy toasting for 2 months. The varieties Viura, Malvasia, Tempranillo Banco and Maturana in stainless steel. Controlled temperature between 14º and 16ºC with autochthonous yeast selected from our own vineyards.
