General information
Viñas de Gain wine is made with grapes collected from vineyards between 25 and 30 years old located in the towns of Laguardia, Elvillar and Leza, in the Rioja Alavesa. These strains are found at an altitude of between 450m and 700m on poor clay-calcareous soils. The harvest is done manually using small boxes so that the bunches arrive in the best possible conditions at the winery, where a careful selection of the bunches and berries is made.
The vinification is carried out in open wooden tanks with a cold maceration that ranges between 24-48 hours. Subsequently, alcoholic fermentation takes place for about 12 days with daily treading and pumping over. Finally, malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels, followed by aging in French oak barrels for 12 months.
