General information

Dominio de Pingus is a small winery located 30 kilometers from Roa, in the DO Ribera del Duero, where the precious wines of Peter Sisseck are made, where, due to its artisan production and low production, it allows them to strive for high quality of the final product. The secret of these wines is found in the old Tinto Fino vineyards that are grown in the small plot of five hectares and in a very controlled selection of the grapes, both in the vineyard and in the winery. , shelling the ripest grapes from each cluster.
The maceration and fermentation process lasts about twenty days, and then goes on to the barrels for malolactic fermentation and aging, in which the wine rests for 18 months in new French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes Flor de Pingus

The 2017 vintage has been characterized by being warm and dry. The water reserves started low and became more acute in the months of July and August, where it was extremely dry except for some heavy rains towards the beginning of the harvest, but without a doubt what marked the year was the frost that affected a large part of the Ribera del Duero on April 28, just after the overflow and with a weak plant mass. I mark the vegetative and flowering growth for the whole year with production losses between 70% and 80%.
This accident was followed by very warm months of June and July. Due to the disadvantages of the vintage, the grape produced has been of a smaller size. And according to Peter Sisseck "an early harvest, with ripe aromas, great extract and low acidity" Regarding the PSI, due to the great frost that occurred in Ribera de Duero, they have had to look for new areas that are within the DO like Burgos and Soria.
