General information

The first bibliographic data on the existence of this estate on the banks of the Duero belong to its first inhabitant, the Franciscan friar Pedro de Villacreces, from whom it takes its name. Along with him, a group of clergymen, among whom was San Pedro Regalado, patron saint of Valladolid, settled in that privileged wasteland to devote himself to prayer and cultivation of the land, which already had a small vineyard for your own consumption and that of the nearby monasteries.

For several centuries, Villacreces was a retreat center for Franciscan hermits dedicated to reflection and penance, as well as to work in the fields and observe nature. With the arrival of the confiscation of Mendizábal, in 1836, these lands passed into private hands, specifically, to the marquisate of Teodosio Alonso-Pesquera, senator of the kingdom with Alfonso XIII, who shortly afterwards would grant a royal concession for which Finca Villacreces has Duero water rights.

Nebro Tasting Notes

Intense cherry, with garnet tones. Of great varietal expression, with ripe fruit and mineral nuances. In the mouth it is round, fatty, voluptuous, with ripe tannins. Long and persistent.

Origin: Made from the selection of Tempranillo varieties from places chosen for generations in Rioja Alta, in the municipality of Fuenmayor.Vinification: Fermented with whole grapes and natural decantation, for subsequent aging in large wooden barrels for several years. Finally, it finishes its aging process in the bottle, where it will remain a minimum of one year before being marketed.

Tasting Notes Viña Valoria 1987

Garnet cherry color with tile rim, indicating its great age. It is elegant and powerful on the nose, with aromas of pepper, spices and ripe red fruits. Bodegas Lecea was born from the passion of a family of winegrowers that has been dedicated to the cultivation of the vine and the production of its own wines for more than four generations. Don Rufino Lecea Blanco, in the 80s, started the change. He begins to bottle his wines. He is followed by his son Luis Alberto Lecea, who today remains in charge of the winery and who has managed to produce distinguished and successful wines, combining modernity and tradition.

Bodegas Riojanas controls more than 300 hectares. Of the best vineyards in Cenicero, San Vicente de la Sonsierra and nearby towns. The grape that is par excellence harvested in Rioja is Tempranillo, but Bodegas Riojanas also has one of the largest extensions dedicated to Mazuelo and Graciano within the Denomination, varieties that give the wines it produces a greater personality. The different vineyard plots are located on clay-calcareous soils of Miocene origin, suitable for producing the highest qualities. At the beginning of October, once the heat of the summer is over, the harvest takes place, which is more than just harvesting the grapes. The choice of the optimal time for harvesting, the productivity of the vines, the selection of the grape consignments destined to elaborate the different types of wine from the winery ... Everything will influence the characteristics and final quality of the wines obtained. The grape consignments from old vineyards are collected in boxes, to prevent the pressure produced by the weight from breaking the grape grains and arriving in the best conditions at the winery. Once there, they undergo a meticulous manual selection bunch by bunch, thus producing the wines that constitute the maximum exponent of quality at Bodegas Riojanas.
