Propiedad Palacios Remondo 2015
A wine belonging to the Palacios Remondo winery in the Rioja Denomination of Origin, a wine made from a single grape variety such as Garnacha, this winery was founded in 1945 by the father of today’s Álvaro Palacios, one of Spain’s great oenologists with wines as famous as La Faraona or L`Ermita. The winery is located in Alfaro and its geographical location makes this a clearly Mediterranean climate, with much more heat and less rainfall than in the Rioja Alta. This change means that the majority variety planted historically has been Grenache, as it behaves better in the heat.
The Property is a Garnacha Monkey varietal that comes from vines planted at an altitude of 550 meters. The soils are calcareous, clay-ferrous and with a lot of pebbles. The harvest is carried out manually, taking advantage of the hours of low solar intensity to keep the grapes fresh.
In the winery, the grapes pass through a manual selection table before being destemmed. The maceration and fermentation is carried out in wooden vats for later transfer to French oak barrels where it carries out the lactic malolactic fermentation and subsequent aging in the barrel itself for 24 months.
