Tondonia Reserva Blanco 2003
Year qualified as GOOD by the Rioja Regulatory Council. A year that could have been marked very negatively in terms of quality by the intense heat wave that affected us from late May to early September, and that caused damage to the vegetation, sometimes severe; the effects of which an exhausted vineyard was recovered at this stage of the growing cycle, thanks to the very opportune rainfall in September, which finally facilitated an abundant harvest, and which stood out in all our vineyards as a whole for its good health and maturation levels that reached average values above 12.5 degrees of sugar for red varieties and very close to 13 in the case of white varieties. The harvesting period lasted from September 24th to October 23rd. The long duration of the harvest is due to the fact that an effort was made to slow it down in order to take full advantage of the September rains and those that occurred during the harvest period. Our experience together with the fact that our area is the highest in La Rioja and the average age of our vineyards is high, meant that our varieties did not suffer from hydric stress and the wines have evolved with roundness and finesse and still have a great capacity for aging.
