The Tempranillo de Valbuena is obtained from plots of land located on concave slopes with a gentle slope that descend from the slopes of the moor. These soils have their origin in material that was eroded and accumulated as a rainfall on the lower slopes, developing a highly expressive soil, with an important evolution materialized with the formation of a deep calcium horizon.
Valbuena shows us a direct and comprehensible vision of the greatness of this “terroir” with the direct influence of each vintage. Its elaboration remains unchanged so that the climatic factors of each year mark the differences between the different crops.
Fermentation at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks with autochthonous yeast. Malolactic fermentation is also carried out in stainless steel.
After fermentation, the wine is aged for five years, between wood and bottle, hence the name Valbuena 5º. French and American wood, new and used 225-litre barrels, 20,000-litre casks… A long and complex process for a great wine.
