In 2012 we obtained a harvest of extraordinary quality. The keys: a very favourable climate, which allowed us to maintain an excellent vegetative and sanitary state of the vineyard throughout the cycle, very moderate production yields and a selective harvest of our best grapes. To this we must also add a balanced maturation in acidity and alcohol content, with a good polyphenolic load and an important varietal typicity. These are the necessary ingredients to enjoy this harvest of excellent quality, a valuation officially endorsed by the Regulatory Council.
100% Tempranillo from our farms Las Monjas, Bardal and Las Cuevas in Rodezno and Alto del Rey in Labastida. These are our own vineyards located 500-600 metres above sea level, planted on clay-lime soils more than 40 years ago.
Elaboration and Ageing
The grapes were harvested by hand, carefully transporting them in boxes and refrigerated trucks. Once in the winery, the grapes were destemmed and crushed, following the Bordeaux model. After fermentation, the wine was aged in American oak barrels of our own production for 2 years: the first in new oak and the second in oak of an average age of 3 years. Four manual rackings were carried out by candlelight. Bottled in December 2013.

Its nose is broad, with dominance of ripe red fruits, redcurrant and liquorice, rounded with sweet notes of vanilla, caramel, jams and spices. It is especially balanced, with a soft and elegant mouth entry, medium body, sweet and tasty tannins.
