General information

Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild, eager to serve his own wine to his prestigious guests, purchases the Château Brane-Mouton at auction. The property, located in the heart of the Médoc in Pauillac, will now bear its name: Château Mouton Rothschild.

With a very rare vineyard of 91 hectares, the Château Mouton Rothschild has an exceptional terroir. The name of the Château comes from the famous "grave" hills on a calcareous marna soil. In old French, a mound of land was called "mothon" deriving from "Mouton".

With typical strains from the Médoc, Cabernet Sauvignon dominates Château Mouton Rothshild with a 78% from the vineyard.

Splendid and authentic, the Château Mouton Rothschild wines present an inimitable style, recognized by fans around the world. The power and richness of the aromas dominate with notes of black fruits, vanilla, smoky notes and cedar. Very structured on the palate, the wine offers velvety tannins and a great persistence.
