The 2015 vintage. The C.R.D.O.Ca. Rioja has given the official rating of’VERY GOOD’ to the 2015 harvest, the earliest in the history of Rioja. A fresh and elegant grape, with a remarkable aptitude for ageing, together with the good weather conditions which, during the whole cycle, favoured the excellent vegetative and sanitary state of the vineyard, allowed a correct ripening balance to be achieved in all the vineyards, to which an exceptionally favourable September for the production of high quality wines contributed decisively.
The vineyard. Calcareous and fresh soils of Labastida, plots of aqueduct, Altabaza, Cuba Negra and Larrazuri. Old vineyards between 35 and 80 years old, in glass, with limited production and small grapes. Peak soil peculiar and excellent for an austere vineyard in an almost mountainous climate.
The CM Prestigio wine comes from the Tempranillo grape variety from Labastida. In these vineyards a special pruning is carried out at a yolk with a maximum production potential of 4,000 kg per hectare and a harvest at its point of maturity by hand in boxes of less than 12 kg.
In the winery, after cooling in cold rooms, the grapes undergo a double selection process (bunch and grape). Alcoholic fermentation takes place in small tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels.
Its subsequent aging is done in French oak barrels (80%) and American (20%) of the best cooperages in the market for 18 months, for bottling in January 2017. The result is a wine of a great and intense layer of dark cherry color and bright with a great aroma, very complex and voluptuous and a complex flavor, long and persistent.
