This wine is made in our renovated cellar of 1883. For its elaboration, wooden vats are used and the last generation of selection tables, where bunches and grapes are previously cooled. Marqués de Riscal 150 Anniversary 2010 has been made to meet the quality standards of a Gran Reserva. It has a very characteristic style of Rioja Alavesa. It is vigorous and vibrant, always more powerful than the rest of the classic wines of Rioja, without concessions to fashion and trends, thus maintaining its elegance. For this, Riscal uses grapes from old vines over 80 years old, both from their own productions and from crops acquired from vine growers in the Rioja Alavesa area, with whom we have a long relationship in some cases, even several generations. After the grapes pass through the manual selection tables, in order to eliminate all the grapes that are not fully healthy and mature, alcoholic fermentation will take place, which will be carried out at a controlled temperature that will not exceed 26º, during the incubation period 14 days. Once the mixture for this special type of wine was defined, it was started aging in French oak barrels that lasted 32 months, then going to the bottle for 3 more years, completing in this way the maturation process and fine tuning of its tannins, in a way to get a round wine while powerful and easy
