In the mythical city of Haro, capital of La Rioja Alta, perhaps where the extraordinary sum of coincidences between the good climate and the severity of the land is best produced, are the López de Heredia Wineries, the oldest in Haro and one of the first three in La Rioja.
So wisely and meticulously, that this kind of wine cathedral, like the authentic ones, is still unfinished and perhaps it is from that still latent spirit of the founder the sensation that is breathed, when stepping on his ships, of having traveled backwards in the weather.

General informationOrganic Rioja wine made from grapes of the Tempranillo and Garnacha Tinta varieties, located in small plots in the town of Badarán planted in 1940 and 2007. Harvested by hand at their optimum ripeness at the end of September and the beginning of October 2015 Vinification is carried out in small production tanks, carrying out a classic alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures of 22-24ºC, with gentle pumping over and daily manual, during the first stages of fermentation. Being able to respect the fresh and fruity aromas of the Garnacha and without maceration to avoid unnecessary extractions, respecting the grape as in a traditional elaboration. After fermentation, we bleed the tanks to extract, by the simple force of gravity, the highest quality wine, helping it later with a traditional crushing of the grape without the need to subject it to pressing.
Tasting Notes Martinez Alesanco EcologicoView: Bright cherry red with garnet reflections. Clean and upper middle layer. Smell: Fresh, aromatic where the aromas of red and black fruits stand out, balsamic, menthol notes, sweet spicy notes and a background of red licorice along with soft toasts. Mouth: In the mouth, it maintains the fruit and the creamy notes, ripe tannin, good acidity and a long finish where joint notes of fruit and barrel come back. Vidau red 2005

The grapes come from the “Cuesta la Reina” estate owned by the winery with 80-year-old vineyards. The manual harvest was carried out in the month of October. No pumping system was used in the process, only gravity so as not to damage the fruit. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts from the vineyard itself, controlling the temperature. The total duration of the maceration was 32 days. Once uncubated, in December, the wine went to French Allier oak and Romanian oak barrels where it was racked 5 times.
It was bottled in June (2 years later), remaining in the bottle for 12 months before being put on sale. With the word Vidau our ancestors called those farms with vines of different varieties. One word, a concept that Bodegas Escudero updates from the past and projects into the future. From the best selection of the most mature grapes from these old vineyards, a grateful and sincere wine emerges, very complex and very natural. A wine that sinks into the roots of tradition and evokes in time the memory of everything that lasts.
